Brent
Hickey – Brent grew up in and still resides in Chandler,
Arizona, a rural suburb of Phoenix. At an early age he learned all aspects
of construction by working for his father’s construction company, Central
Construction. Before graduating high school, he had worked on a crew
hanging and taping drywall, pulled electrical wire, worked on a roofing
crew for both residential and commercial buildings, as well as operated
heavy equipment on construction sites.
During his freshman and sophomore years, Brent attended Point Loma Nazarene
College in San Diego, California during which he received an academic
scholarship and was named the outstanding business student of his class
both years. Brent graduated from Arizona State University in 1988 with
a Bachelor of Science degree in finance with an emphasis on real estate.
He was awarded the American Southwest Financial Services Award for Academic
Achievement in Real Estate Finance. While attending ASU, Brent received
his real estate sales person license for the State of Arizona, and later
his real estate broker’s license.
From 1989 through 1991, Brent managed and sold real estate assets for
Meracor Development, MeraBank Texas, and AMRESCO, a subsidiary of Nations
Bank. Brent was responsible for residential land for development and
multifamily apartment projects in Arizona, Dallas, Houston and Austin,
Texas, Oklahoma, Southern Colorado, and Las Vegas, Nevada. The total
portfolio value based on the disposition values was in excess of $85,000,000.
In 1992 Brent was influential in the formation of Phoenix Holdings,
a residential land development company that acquired, entitled, and/or
developed finished lots for homebuilders. Brent acted in the capacity
of President and Chief Operating Officer and in those capacities was
responsible for daily operations, project acquisition, securing entitlements,
structuring of entities, project financing (acquisition and improvements),
infrastructure construction, and eventual project disposition.
At Phoenix Holdings, Brent was instrumental in the creation and implementation
of Portfolio Debt investment structures that allowed foreign investors
to invest in Arizona real estate without paying income tax. Brent has
structured acquisitions and investments for investors residing in the
United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, British Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Liechtenstein,
Liberia, Mexico, and Panama.
Brent has not only master planned and zoned land for the State of Arizona;
Brent has also acted on a mediation panel to resolve disputes between
the City of Phoenix and the Arizona State Land Department.
In all, Brent has entitled and/or developed communities or subdivisions
comprising over 15,800 acres and over 41,000 residential units and supporting
commercial uses.

Gary Lane - Gary
grew up in London, England and was interested in design, architecture
and real estate at an early age. After graduating high school Gary worked
for Healey and Baker in their planning and development department working
on such projects as “the docklands.”
During his time at Arizona State University, Gary worked with the Town
of Gilbert, City of Phoenix, the City of Avondale, Gruen Associates,
and Design Workshop. Gary graduated from Arizona State University with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Planning and Urban Design with an emphasis
on development.
From 1992 until 1998 Gary worked in the municipal planning departments
of the City’s of Avondale and Goodyear. Gary’s position as Senior Planner/Planning
Manager allowed him to be in direct contact with many different development
companies who wanted to zone, plat or build in the cities. Gary managed
many different entitlement cases resulting in many thousands of lots,
and commercial/industrial acres being built. During this time Gary received
his national planning certification from the American Institute of Certified
Planners (AICP). He still holds this today.
In 1998 Gary joined Recorp Inc., a residential land development company
that acquired, entitled, and/or developed finished lots for homebuilders.
Gary acted in the capacity as Senior Project Manager and later Vice-President,
and in those capacities was responsible for land acquisition, securing
entitlements and municipal reimbursements, daily operations, infrastructure
construction and eventual project disposition.
At Recorp Inc, Gary was instrumental in the creation of 5 large master
plan communities of over 3000 acres each. Financed primarily by the
President and CEO of the company, Gary designed and implemented cutting
edge land use designs that embraced the “green community concept” before
its time. Gary designed entitled and engineered property in Phoenix,
AZ, Scottsdale, AZ, Goodyear AZ, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Fort Worth,
Texas, Denton, Texas and Terrell, Texas.
As well as acquiring, planning and zoning property Gary has been invited
by the Urban Land Institute and the University of California Los Angeles
to speak on many issues dealing with municipalities and receiving reimbursements
for development.
In all Gary has entitled and/or developed communities comprising of
over 25,000 acres and or over 75,000 residential units and supporting
commercial uses.
